The Qamea Kava Story
Somewhere in the South Pacific
Beyond the cities, beyond the resorts, and a little off the beaten track, there’s a small island in Fiji called Qamea — rainforest, ocean, and some pretty special people. This is where our story begins.
Come with us
Chapter One
Bula! I’m Austin 👋
My story started after visiting Qamea Island and completely falling in love with the people, the place, the culture — and of course, the kava.
The island gave me an experience I’d never forget, and I wanted to give something back to the community that welcomed me like family.
Then an idea began to grow. Why not start with what Qamea already does best? Kava.

Chapter Two
Meet Pasillio
Farmer, friend, and the heart of our farm. Pasillio and his family call Qamea home.
Together we started planting kava on the hills of the island — one plant at a time, with a simple idea: grow something great, and make sure the community grows with it.
And so, our little kava farm began.

Chapter Three
And then… we wait.
Good kava takes time — there are no shortcuts out here.
Each plant is cared for as it grows beneath Qamea’s tropical canopy, spending years developing what we’re really waiting for: the roots.

Chapter Four
Beneath the canopy
From up here, the plants might not look like much — just big, heart-shaped leaves catching the rain.
But underneath the soil, something pretty special is growing.

Chapter Five
The treasure beneath
Years of rain, sunshine, patience and care — all hiding beneath the soil.
When the time is right, the plants are harvested and the roots finally see daylight. This is the part we’ve been waiting for.

Chapter Six
From root to tanoa
Then comes a tradition that’s been part of Fijian life for generations. The kava is mixed with water and strained by hand into a tanoa.
No complicated ritual. No fancy equipment. Just kava, a bowl, and good company.

Chapter Seven
Made to be shared
Kava has a wonderful way of bringing people together. You sit down, you share a bowl, you tell stories, you laugh.
Sometimes people from completely different corners of the world leave the tanoa as friends. That’s the little piece of Fiji we want to share with you.

And back to where it all began
From Qamea, with love 💚
What started with a visit to a little island became something bigger than we ever expected — a farm, a friendship, a community, and a whole lot of kava.
Vinaka vakalevu. Welcome to Qamea Kava.
